Kybella, also known as PCDC (Phosphatidylcholine Deoxycholate), is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that uses deoxycholic acid to dissolve fat cells and reduce fat in targeted areas.
This injectable treatment is primarily used for permanently reducing submental fat, commonly referred to as a double chin. It can also be used to treat other small areas of fat on the body, such as above the knees and elbows. PCDC can effectively target fat in areas such as the double chin, jawline, bra fat, abdominal fat, and cellulite.
During a consultation with the lead Practitioner and Nurse Injector, your individual needs will be assessed and a personalized treatment plan will be developed. Together, you will determine if this treatment is suitable for you or if other options might be better.
The office visit typically lasts between 20-30 minutes, during which the PCDC solution is injected into the fat just beneath the skin in a custom grid-like pattern. The deoxycholic acid in PCDC breaks down the walls of the fat cells, leading to their absorption and eventual elimination by the body. For optimal results, 3 to 4 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart are generally recommended.
The results of PCDC injections can last for months or even years, as the body metabolizes and removes the treated fat cells.
After the initial treatment, you may experience some side effects, including sensitivity in the injection area, swelling, bruising, tenderness, itching, and redness.
