FILLERS

Difference Between Filler and Sculptra?

Composition:

Filler – Traditional dermal fillers are typically made of hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, or collagen. These substances are injected to instantly add volume and fill in wrinkles or folds.
Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic material that stimulates the body’s own collagen production. It works gradually over time to restore volume and improve skin quality.

Mechanism of Action:

Fillers work immediately upon injection by physically filling in lines, wrinkles, and hollow areas, providing immediate volume enhancement.
Sculptra works by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production, which gradually restores lost volume and improves skin texture and elasticity over time. The results develop gradually over several weeks to months.

Duration of Results:

Filler –  The results of traditional fillers are immediate and typically last between 6 months to 2 years, depending on the type of filler used and individual factors.
Sculptra provides long-lasting results that can last up to two years or longer. While multiple treatment sessions may be needed, the effects are more gradual and natural-looking.

Treatment Areas:

Fillers are commonly used to add volume and smooth lines and wrinkles in various areas of the face, including lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines.
Sculptra is primarily used to restore facial volume and improve skin quality in larger areas of the face, such as the cheeks, temples, and jawline. It is particularly effective for addressing age-related volume loss.

Treatment Approach:

Fillers are typically used for immediate results and targeted enhancement of specific areas, making them suitable for individuals seeking quick fixes or temporary corrections.
Sculptra is a more gradual approach to facial rejuvenation, requiring multiple treatment sessions spaced several weeks apart. It is ideal for individuals looking for long-lasting, natural-looking results that develop over time. It’s essential to consult with a qualified healthcare professional to determine the best treatment option for your specific needs and concerns. They can assess your goals and recommend the most suitable approach for achieving your desired outcome.
